Best Man Ever!

How long does it take to return a movie and grab a gallon of milk?  This is usually what I am thinking when I send Scott and Dallin out to run some errands or I start worrying that something has happened and keep checking my phone to see if they called when they are gone for a long time.

Then I remember that I have the best husband ever who knows that I am getting sick, and that I had a HORRIBLE day.  And also he knows that being pregnant with a two year old isn't always easy.  So as I get to cook dinner in a quiet house I am grateful to have a wonderful husband who knows when mommy just needs a break and doesn't mind spending a little time with Dallin out of the house after he gets home from work.

I love you Scott!!  Thanks for the break!!

Different Experience This Time Around

As I am well over half way done with this pregnancy I have been reflecting on how this one has differed from when I was pregnant with Dallin.

First of all, I was more sick at the beginning like around week 5- 7.  I was still sick the entire first trimester more so this time, but those few weeks at the beginning were horrible with nausea and such.

My stomach is way more sensitive this time around also.  I have slept with a pillow or fluffy blanket around my belly since before I even started growing a belly which is so different from my first pregnancy.  I didn't sleep with a pillow by my belly the whole time I was pregnant with Dallin.

I think it is common with most women to have a baby belly sooner on the second and subsequent pregnancies than the first, but mine came very quickyly.  It is nice because the awkward "I just look fat phase" doesn't last long, but Scott would joke around that I was having twins because I was so big so soon. Just one baby on the ultrasound I promise.

Another thing I notice with this pregnancy is that I always feel hungry.  Yes, I did eat more with Dallin, but some days I feel like I haven't eaten all day just an hour or so after eating a well balanced meal.  To ensure baby is getting everything she needs I make sure I am eating fruits and veggies and taking my vitamins instead of grabbing the first thing that comes to mind when I need a snack.

Dallin liked to stay all tucked up under my ribs which caused them to hurt the last 6 months and made it hard to breathe.  This little girl seems to stick way out because it is easier to see her movements from the outside of my belly already this early.  It could just be the fact that everyone keeps telling me that you carry boys and girls differently.

So no major differences, but it is funny how you notice the little things amongst all the other stuff that is happening to your body during pregnancy.

New Baby Announcement!!

We do have more news to share at the beginning of this new year.  We are expecting baby #2 the first week of May!!  Some of you may have already heard the news, but I know not all of you are on facebook regularly and wanted to make an official announcement on our family blog.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and we found out over the holidays that we are having a GIRL!!  We are excited to be welcoming a new baby into our family.  I am excited to shop for pink outfits and frilly dresses, but at the same time I am nervous to have a girl.  Raising boys and girls are different, but I am excited to have one of each in our little family.

Dallin is beginning to understand what is going on as he has been watching my belly grow.  He loves to rub or kiss my belly while repeating over and over,"baby" "baby" "baby".  Here are some pictures of the ultrasound.  I love the first one with her hand up by her head.

Happy New Year 2011!!

We went to see my family in Arkansas for New Year's to celebrate our family Christmas.  We didn't exchange gifts this year except for the kids.  We decided to just do a nice dinner and share stories of how we were able to help serve those in need at this special time of year.
This is our first family picture in 13 years.  I was only 11 when the last picture was taken and boy how our family has grown.  We are only missing a few people, and we were glad that it turned out so good because it was freezing cold when we took it.
We decided to take the rest of our pictures inside because of the weather.  This is a four generation picture with my parents and with my moms parents.
We also thought it was time to update our mother daughter pictures while we were all together.  It was fun to get dressed up and try different poses and locations.  This is one of my favorite ones that we took.
Dallin was right in the middle of all the cousins and commotion while opening his gifts.
Dallin was quite taken with his cousin Tayton.  Dallin held him for several minutes before he was ready to let go of him.  These are the two youngest grandkids on my side of the family.
We were only going to stay for the weekend and come back home on Sunday, but Scott let me stay the next week so I could visit more with my family. Here is Dallin all dressed up in his chef out fit cooking with his cousin.  He absolutely loved this play kitchen.  I think it was because it made sounds and was interactive for him.
It was a wonderful trip and great to see all my family and a great time to reflect on the past year.  We had some big changes in our family and we are looking forward to the next year and what it will bring!
