Happy Memorial Weekend!!!!

So, we had quite the storm today. That added to the flood warnings we already have from the snow melt, we had some fun driving in town. The storm drainage in town was poorly planned and they always fill up and over flow in heavy rain falls. This poses a bit of a problem when the man-hole lids start floating away. Gotta be careful driving. Here are some pictures of downtown Rexburg. In the first picture, I was sitting in a parking lot, but you can't see the grass or curb between the lot and the road anymore. The manhole lids really do pop off under the pressure, sometimes.

We also had an awesome time planting a small garden this weekend. We team-tackled it with the guys up stairs from us. We get to split the garden with them, so we all went to the store to get a couple different kinds of corn, peas, watermelon, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, bell peppers, egg plant, strawberries, and a bunch of stuff to make salsa (tomatoes, habenero peppers, jalepeno peppers, onions, and cilantro). We're excited to see if our labors take root and are a success.....and if everything will still grow alright with the black fabric to minimize weeds. We'll see. The watermelon looks a little wilted, but we are hoping it is just the stress of transplanting. In the yard, we also have a green apple tree and some apricot trees. It's been raining all weekend, so hopefully everything will perk up. You can see Aimee working hard in the first picture. We ended up planting well into the evening, finishing just after the sun went down, and she was just putting some finishing toughes on the cucumbers.

Here's the corn.....we have 4 rows, actually....some seeds and some starts.

Here we have some onions and peppers...Mmmmmm......Salsa!!!!!
And of course.....strawberries.....we're hoping these do well.
We still have a little more room, so we may go get a few more items to plant. This is by no means a large "food storage" type of garden, but it is all the space we have to work with, and it's a good learning experience, we hope, for what to do in our own when we have our own house. So, we hope everyone else has great luck with their gardens this year, and we are always open to good gardening pointers.

Fun Filled Saturday

Rexburg is finally beginning to warm up, so we decided to take advantage of the amazing weather. We invited some friends to a BBQ in the park on Saturday and had a blast!!! Scott did a great job managing the grill and the food was scrumptious. While we waited to eat we played frisbee, tossed around a football, and played our new favorite game ladder ball. We were there for a few hours and came home with a little sun on our faces and arms.

I had a mouth full of food...

BONFIRE
Later that night we were invited to a bonfire by some friends, so Scott loaded up a trailer full of wood and we headed just outside of town a little while before it got dark. It was good just to relax for the evening and visit with more friends.

It's a Boy!!

We went to the doctor today for our ultrasound and found out that we are having a boy!! Everything from the heart to the spine looked great! Now I can start buying blue things and planning for the nursery. Scott and I are so excited! From the first picture you can tell for sure its a boy and the second one shows the whole body.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

We want to wish our mothers and all the mothers that we know a Happy Mothers Day!! We hope today is a special day for all of you. For Mothers Day, I was given a huge bouquet of orange roses and daisys from Scott. They were absolutely gorgeous, and I almost didn't have a vase that was big enough to hold them all. He also made me breakfast which was a great treat, and did the most amazing B-B-Q pork chops, mashed potatoes, and mixed veggies for dinner. Then he cleaned the whole kitchen. He's pretty much my hero. Scott and I are also celebrating our 9 month anniversary today, so its kind of like a double holiday for us! The picture isn't the greatest because it is just from my phone. Hopefully, we will be able to get our camera working again soon.

Half Way There!!!

We hit our 20 week mark, and only have 20 more to go!! I can't believe how fast the baby is growing. I am beginning to feel the baby a lot more now as it gets stronger. About this time it is developing eyelashes, eyebrows, and even fingernails. Thankfully I am still able to wear all my regular clothes, and Scott finally admitted that I was starting to get a little belly.
