Sickness Round 2

Well, I haven't been very productive for the past week.  We were all sick about 2 weeks ago, but it didn't last more than a day a two for everyone.  Scott's voice took awhile to come back but we were all feeling better rather quickly.

Then a couple days ago, Dallin got sick again and a lot worse this time, which means no one is really sleeping at night, and now that he is on the mend Scott and I are sick.  Dallin's top molars finished coming through with the last sickness so I am hoping the bottom ones will be coming in soon.  We went from playing outside in the 70 degree weather last week...

(He was checking out an airplane that was flying by)

...to this week where Dallin hasn't been up to doing much.  The nights are always worse than during the day, but this is Dallin taking it easy watching a movie.

29 Weeks

Well, I guess its time for a belly picture with this pregnancy.  The first picture is me now pregnant with baby girl and the second picture is for you to compare when I was pregnant with Dallin at 29 weeks also.  I will let you draw your own conclusions as to the differences.

This Week

Well since it was another snow week here I decided to do some sewing projects.  I got a new sewing machine for Christmas and thought it was time to put away my fears and jump into sewing.  I ABSOLUTELY  love my new machine.  It's simple enough for me to use and perect for me to learn on.

With a new baby on the way I thought it was a good idea to start with some simple bibs and burp cloths that I could use.  With the warmer weather coming next week I plan on getting some more material to make different ones.  Probably some pretty pink ones are on the way, but I thought the ducks were cute too.
I guess I was feeling crafty this week because I thought our apartment needed a little spice.  With Valentine's Day just around the corner I was inspired to make this cute paper heart garland that I had seen.  It was so easy to make and didn't take me very long, but it puts a smile on my face every time I glance at it.

Sorry for the lack of pictures in the past couple posts.  I finally got my camera batteries found and charged.  HAHA!!  I know I was just being lazy.  Be prepared for some more posts (with pictures I promise) next week.

Why?

This is Dallin's new favorite word.  Just recently he has started asking me why? when I tell him something.  He doesn't always use it in the right context or completely understand how to use it yet because he doesn't always wait for me to respond.  For the most part though he does understand and uses it to learn more about what is going on.  Sometimes it is very repetitive, but I try to use it to my advantage and take the time to teach him something or explain further the situation.  It's amazing how fast they learn and how it seems like he's just a little sponge taking it all in.

Here is a funny conversation we had the other day.

Mom: Dallin please don't walk around with the bucket on your head.
Dallin: Why?
Mom: Because you are going to run into the wall or fireplace.
Dallin: Why?
Mom: Because you can't see where you are going.
Dallin: Oh!

We have had many conversations like this the past couple of days.  Sometimes I have noticed that he asks me why? to prolong doing something like taking a nap or cleaning up.  He thinks that if he keeps me talking that maybe he can get out of it.  So far I have been able to come up with answers that he seems to accept so it doesn't last long.  I can't wait to see what he is going to ask me today.

Best Man Ever!

How long does it take to return a movie and grab a gallon of milk?  This is usually what I am thinking when I send Scott and Dallin out to run some errands or I start worrying that something has happened and keep checking my phone to see if they called when they are gone for a long time.

Then I remember that I have the best husband ever who knows that I am getting sick, and that I had a HORRIBLE day.  And also he knows that being pregnant with a two year old isn't always easy.  So as I get to cook dinner in a quiet house I am grateful to have a wonderful husband who knows when mommy just needs a break and doesn't mind spending a little time with Dallin out of the house after he gets home from work.

I love you Scott!!  Thanks for the break!!

Different Experience This Time Around

As I am well over half way done with this pregnancy I have been reflecting on how this one has differed from when I was pregnant with Dallin.

First of all, I was more sick at the beginning like around week 5- 7.  I was still sick the entire first trimester more so this time, but those few weeks at the beginning were horrible with nausea and such.

My stomach is way more sensitive this time around also.  I have slept with a pillow or fluffy blanket around my belly since before I even started growing a belly which is so different from my first pregnancy.  I didn't sleep with a pillow by my belly the whole time I was pregnant with Dallin.

I think it is common with most women to have a baby belly sooner on the second and subsequent pregnancies than the first, but mine came very quickyly.  It is nice because the awkward "I just look fat phase" doesn't last long, but Scott would joke around that I was having twins because I was so big so soon. Just one baby on the ultrasound I promise.

Another thing I notice with this pregnancy is that I always feel hungry.  Yes, I did eat more with Dallin, but some days I feel like I haven't eaten all day just an hour or so after eating a well balanced meal.  To ensure baby is getting everything she needs I make sure I am eating fruits and veggies and taking my vitamins instead of grabbing the first thing that comes to mind when I need a snack.

Dallin liked to stay all tucked up under my ribs which caused them to hurt the last 6 months and made it hard to breathe.  This little girl seems to stick way out because it is easier to see her movements from the outside of my belly already this early.  It could just be the fact that everyone keeps telling me that you carry boys and girls differently.

So no major differences, but it is funny how you notice the little things amongst all the other stuff that is happening to your body during pregnancy.

New Baby Announcement!!

We do have more news to share at the beginning of this new year.  We are expecting baby #2 the first week of May!!  Some of you may have already heard the news, but I know not all of you are on facebook regularly and wanted to make an official announcement on our family blog.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and we found out over the holidays that we are having a GIRL!!  We are excited to be welcoming a new baby into our family.  I am excited to shop for pink outfits and frilly dresses, but at the same time I am nervous to have a girl.  Raising boys and girls are different, but I am excited to have one of each in our little family.

Dallin is beginning to understand what is going on as he has been watching my belly grow.  He loves to rub or kiss my belly while repeating over and over,"baby" "baby" "baby".  Here are some pictures of the ultrasound.  I love the first one with her hand up by her head.
